Check those Aluminum wheels for cracks and damage!

The other day I was walking by a bus in the shop and noticed a large crack in the front wheel of an XL II we had been working on. Needless to say this wheel was very unsafe and needed replacement right away. A Few Days later, I had my own XL in the shop for a little upkeep and low and behold I have a crack on one of my tag wheels! I hear these things happen in 3's....so everyone get out there and do a quick inspection on your aluminum wheels. The best way to spot them quick is to keep the wheels polished, and if you do spot a crack remember that busforsale.com can mount a new rim for your bus usually the same day. Be sure to follow torque specs for your wheels to avoid any future problems.

Pre-trip coach brake inspection checklist

Each time you take out your coach, every driver should be doing a complete pre-trip inspection to be sure that the vehicle is in perfect working order and safe to operate…One of the most important things to inspect is the air brake system on your bus. Here is a quick run down of things to check prior to each trip:

-Inspect air brake hoses/ lines for leaks or damage
-Inspect brake chamber at each wheel
-Inspect slack adjusters for proper adjustment
-Inspect brake drums/ linings and pads for abnormal wear

-AIR BRAKE TEST
1.) Applied psi test(3 psi in 1 min)
combination(4 psi in 1 min)
2.) Governor cut out (120 psi)
3.) Governor cut in (around 95 psi)
4.) Low air warning device
5.) Parking brake test

This checklist is a basic guide that was intended to assist you in inspecting your brakes for a pre trip inspection. It would be impossible to cover all types of coaches.

Converting an entertainer coach for recreational use

The standard 12-bunk entertainer coach floor plan does not always work for recreational or family travel, but did you know that is easy and economical to remodel your new bus to better suite your needs and lifestyle? Installing larger kitchens, adding a shower, or building out a rear stateroom are all common updates that we can perform on your coach. If the bulk of your modifications can be done within the "Bunk room" area, your new coach can be converted to your exact specifications for an economical price. Common conversions include keeping three bunks for extra sleeping capacity, turning three bunks into a large shower room, and turning the last rack of bunks into closet space with a washer/ dryer combo. Often the rear lounge is converted into a queen bed stateroom. Cost varies depending on materials used and we can match most interior colors of your bus for a seamless look. We can provide craftsman and technicians that can perform the "fluff and puff" that may be needed to improve your bus or handle the logistics of a major remodel. Busforsale.com can provide the bus conversion and remodeling service assistance you need after the sale.

Time to Winterize your coach

Its that time of the year again…time to winterize your bus to protect the water and cooling system from freezing temperatures. In addition to pumping the plumbing system full of non-toxic RV antifreeze, here are a few tips to consider:
-Install a water heater by-pass kit to avoid filling with antifreeze
-Remove any inline water filters
-Drain all holding tanks completely including fresh water, grey and black tanks
-Be sure to add rv antifreeze to all the drain traps in sinks and showers and the toilet
-Don't forget to check any outside faucets or showers, and ice makers
-If your water heater is electric be sure the element is turned off
- Be sure to check your main engine coolant, generator coolant and any diesel-fired heaters for proper winter antifreeze protection

This checklist is a basic guide that was intended to assist you in winterizing your RV. As with many other checklists it would be impossible to cover every RV. It is extremely important that you read your owner’s manuals for unit specific winterizing guidelines.
