Pre-trip coach brake inspection checklist

Each time you take out your coach, every driver should be doing a complete pre-trip inspection to be sure that the vehicle is in perfect working order and safe to operate…One of the most important things to inspect is the air brake system on your bus. Here is a quick run down of things to check prior to each trip:

-Inspect air brake hoses/ lines for leaks or damage
-Inspect brake chamber at each wheel
-Inspect slack adjusters for proper adjustment
-Inspect brake drums/ linings and pads for abnormal wear

-AIR BRAKE TEST
1.) Applied psi test(3 psi in 1 min)
combination(4 psi in 1 min)
2.) Governor cut out (120 psi)
3.) Governor cut in (around 95 psi)
4.) Low air warning device
5.) Parking brake test

This checklist is a basic guide that was intended to assist you in inspecting your brakes for a pre trip inspection. It would be impossible to cover all types of coaches.
