Time to Winterize your coach

Its that time of the year again…time to winterize your bus to protect the water and cooling system from freezing temperatures. In addition to pumping the plumbing system full of non-toxic RV antifreeze, here are a few tips to consider:
-Install a water heater by-pass kit to avoid filling with antifreeze
-Remove any inline water filters
-Drain all holding tanks completely including fresh water, grey and black tanks
-Be sure to add rv antifreeze to all the drain traps in sinks and showers and the toilet
-Don't forget to check any outside faucets or showers, and ice makers
-If your water heater is electric be sure the element is turned off
- Be sure to check your main engine coolant, generator coolant and any diesel-fired heaters for proper winter antifreeze protection

This checklist is a basic guide that was intended to assist you in winterizing your RV. As with many other checklists it would be impossible to cover every RV. It is extremely important that you read your owner’s manuals for unit specific winterizing guidelines.
